Erase all local iphone contacts

Hi,

I have, caused by some sync error, 4000+ useless contacts locally on my iphone. I have turned off icloud, gmail and other contacts. How can I delete these, preferably all at once.

how to stop icloud downloading old contacts to my iphone I deleted old contacts from my phone but every time I connect to icloud it downloads them again to the iphone not once but several times so I have many duplicate entries and many contacts that I don't want on the phone. How can I stop this?

Contacts All of my contacts that I had before are now deleted and the only contacts I have left are the ones with Iclouds. I don’t know what to do or how to fix it and when I try and add one that is a gmail account link with the phone, it deletes it. Please help.
