My "Macbook" suddenly showed up on my desktop.

An icon called "Macbook Air (2)" suddenly showed up on my desktop. I'm not sure if this is when it appeared because I only noticed it now, but a few days ago when I was in a cafe I got an alert that said something along the lines of "there is already a Macbook Air on the network so this machine has been renamed Macbook Air (2)". I was able to rename my computer to "Avery's Macbook" and the icon changed with it. There seems to be no way to delete, hide, or remove it from my desktop, and when I open it, it does contain my Macintosh HD so it appears to be my actual "Macbook". It also doesn't show up in the Desktop folder in finder, and it takes up no space on my iCloud so it isn't just a copy. It worries me that this "folder" seemingly containing my entire computer suddenly showed up on my desktop with no way to remove it. I'd like to get rid of it, but also to understand what it is and why it suddenly popped up.

Hi avery_a,

We'd like to help share some suggestions on guidance to assist with isolating where the folder has come from. One thing to check is to see if relation with iCloud via Add your Desktop and Documents files to iCloud Drive, and if this does not help, due to the complexity, you may want to reach out to Apple Support
