Reset Mighty Mouse settings after every reboot

Everything about the Mighty Mouse works perfectly. On the Mouse panel in System Settings, I see a button for Mighty Mouse settings when it is plugged in.

Changes to items like secondary click survive a reboot. I assume because that setting is not specific to each individual mouse, but applies to "any" mouse plugged in. But anything I change in the dialog when I click Mighty Mouse Settings does not survive a reboot. AKA the reason I like this mouse, button 3 and 4.

Everything I find online and here is from 10.6 and 10.7. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a compatibility issue...might be time to move on, sad but true.
