Apple Watch Keeps Pausing

My Apple Watch Series 7 keeps pausing my workout. I have auto-pause turned off and I also have press to pause turned off as well. Does anyone else have this problem or know of a solution? I also have to wear the watch on the inside of my wrist, as that’s the only way it seems it’ll sometimes track my workout. The issue is worse if I wear the watch properly.

I have also ensured my Apple Watch is up to date.

Hello Akilgs,

Given the information already provided, do you happen to have Wrist Detection enabled on the Apple Watch? You can check in the following location:

  1. Go to the Apple Watch and open the Settings app.
  2. Tap on Passcode
  3. Do you have Wrist Detection enabled here?

If so, what happens if you disable Wrist Detection? And then re-enable Wrist Detection? Does the issue persist?

Keep in mind, some features will not work when wrist detection is disabled (Apple Pay, Stand credit, etc.).

Should the issue continue after disabling and re-enabling Wrist Detection, then you may want to consider unpairing the Apple Watch and re-pairing it to test this further:

  1. Unpair and erase your Apple Watch
  2. Set up your Apple Watch

Make sure you're wearing the Apple Watch as directed in: Get the most accurate measurements using your Apple Watch

In case this issue is related to wrist detection and re-pairing the Apple Watch doesn't solve it, then it would be best to contact Apple Support directly for further help: Official - Apple Support They'll need to take it from here.

Wishing you well, take care.
