HomePod not working with HomeKit

I am so beyond frustrated with the HomePod mini I purchased approx 1.5 years ago. At first it worked great, now it is no better than an expensive paper weight. I used to be able to say, “hey siri, please play Morgan Wallen ..” (or any artist or song name or radio station or album etc …. Now the response is “that is not in your Apple Music Library” And this is the same response if it is in my library, or isn’t .. it doesn’t seem to matter. It has been doing this for months now and I’ve given up on fixing it. I can operate from my phone just fine. Now tonight the new problem came up. I have a bunch of Leviton Decora Smart switches connected to home kit and have been telling Siri to turn on/off specific lights, scenes etc for 1.5 years … now tonight when I said the usual “hey siri, turn on the lights” or “… turn off the lights” the response is “it appears that you do not have any devices connected to the home kit” 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ grrrrr … yes I do and have for 1.5 years!! It will work on my watch and phone though … both with the app and with Siri … but not on the HomePod .. so now it’s completely useless for me … I have unplugged it, checked for updates (16.2), checked my phone for updates etc all of it … nothing seems to work …

soooo frustrated!! Anyone have any idea/fixes?!

thanks!!

Hi,

I have done that a few times, but could try that again; however, mysteriously this morning the HomePod decided to listen to my “Turn such and such lights on …. Turn such and such lights off”. So that seems to have been resolved for the moment … What I did was renamed the HomePod (that came

up in someone else’s troubleshooting with the same issue), no idea if that was the fix or if something magical happened overnight. I haven’t tried the music issue yet again, but will when I get home today.

Thanks

While talking with Apple support about this issues the tech suggested adding a room in the Home App. So I did and this seemed to resolve the issue and it still worked after removing the added room.

The conclusion is that a configuration change on the Home App would cause the updated configuration to be pushed to the HomePods. So as some have said renaming the HomePod, which is a configuration change, seemed to resolve the issue.
