I just recently left my apple on for about 8 hours and it was on the Aerial screensaver and when I came back the entire Apple TV turn to a neon colored dark format. Anywhere I go and any app I open it still looks the same. I updated it, restarted it, and unplugged it and it does not go away. Picture reference below.
I used HBO Max as an example since it shows the discoloration of the thumbnails on shows.
This issue has been resolved. It actually had nothing to do with the Apple TV but the actual TV itself. Unplugged and plugged it back in and all is good.

Try resetting the video settings, from Settings﹥Video and Audio﹥Reset Video Setting﹥.
