Emails not moving to Mailbox folders?

Does anyone have a solution for my emails not moving to their mailboxes as I attempt to file them away. I CAN select the emails to move, and it would appear as if they land in the mailbox, but upon checking, nothing has changed. I am on Mojave 10.14.6. Thank you!

Although the title of this article doesn't reflect the issue you've described, the steps may be helpful since the Mail app isn't working as expected: If an app on your Mac stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open.

1. Quit and reopen the app
Quit the app, then open it again. If the app won't quit, force the app to quit. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.
 
2. Restart your Mac
Restart your Mac. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.
 
3. Check for updates
To see if updates are available for the app, open the App Store, then click Updates. If updates aren't available for the app, update the software on your Mac. Or if you didn't get the app from the App Store, look for updates to the app on the app developer's website. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.
 
4. Reinstall the app
Delete the app. When you do this, you might lose data that was stored in the app. Then redownload the app. If you didn't get the app from the App Store, redownload the app on the app developer's website. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.

If you need more help, reply with the answers to these questions.

  • Do you notice this with one email account or multiple?
  • If you access the account from a web browser, do you notice the same behavior?

Yes, appreciate your thoughts here. I did quit/start/restart and same problem. I have not upgraded OS from Mojave, but that shouldn't matter. No other updates are needed. If I'm understanding correctly, if I reinstall the app, I won't loose my emails, is that correct? (I hesitate doing this as I am a mental health clinician and cannot loose emails!). Thank you again....
