Why do you need to reset it? What is happening?
If the Apple Watch has stopped responding, then follow these instructions exactly
forced restart. Steps needed are found in the Apple Support article: Restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support
i.e. press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, then release both buttons when you see the Apple logo.
If you've completed that troubleshooting and the issue is still not resolved, the only option is to Contact Support.

There are a number of posts in the last few days saying this; it seems that there is a problem with the watch, probably due to a bug. If Apple try to say otherwise, the evidence points to a problem.
I had the same issue: My watch was dead, I put it on the Apple Duo Charger and left it overnight. I didn't put it on and when I went to wear it two days later it was totally dead. So I left it on charge all day yesterday. Went to put it on this morning, and it was still dead. Put it on charge all day (again) - and I could see the cable image with the green charge icon so assumed that it was charging up. It wasn't. I grabbed the cable from the box and tried that - still nothing. It wouldn't reboot or anything, so I tried the reboot while the charger was attached. A few minutes later the cable charge icon appeared again, and then about 10 mins after that the apple logo appeared and the normal time + charge icon (in green) showed on the face. After a bit longer the normal watch face appeared and the watch had 11% charge. So this should have been powering on a good bit earlier based on the power in the battery.
I attached it back onto the Duo charger, and it is charging up fine, so I don't think the problem was that charger, as I then saw a message on screen saying an update would be attempted overnight, so I think there is maybe a bug in the older software (I'm on 8.7 from the looks of it), but obviously not being able to turn on means that you can't update to the newer version. The watch is now, about an hour later, on 97% charge, but I've a genius appt booked just in case this is a battery issue rather than a software issue.
Try the steps I did:
Use the official charger, and if you can, see if you can use another charger cable to rule out the one you were using.
While on charge, check for the image of the cable with the green charge icon. Try then rebooting the watch (hold the crown and the side button for about 10 seconds.
Wait about 15 mins to see if the watch looks like it is actually taking a charge and preparing to start (like changing to the low-power time with charge icon on the display).
If that doesn't work, try rebooting it again, but wait about 30 mins like the help article says.
If none of this works, contact your local apple store.
You must get the Watch to charge from its current drained status before anything else

Thanks
You're welcome, good luck.
There is no genetic problem, just a problem with creighton144's watch or charger.
