changing font size in mail settings does nothing to change font size when composing emails

everything works fine on old macbookair running Monterey

but doesn't work as expected on new macbookair running Ventura

thoughts?

composing email font is very small when composing emails I use a 14 point font because smaller well, looks really small. it was brought to my attention that my outgoing emails have this large font that looks unprofessional on a computer using outlook. what doesn't work: CHANGING PREFERENCES. that only adjusts what you see; USING COMMAND PLUS - absurd answer. this increases the font size. is the only answer to compose these msgs in whatever font i use and then resize to 12 point? thanks.

Font size of MAC Monterey while composing email "to" and "cc"fields As my vision keeps getting worse, I am having difficulty reading what I type in the "to" block of an Apple OS email. I know how to incesase font size in body of email. Problem is in filling in "To" field

If you are saying changing the Message font in Mail > Settings > Fonts & Colors makes no difference try booting into Safe Mode then restart normally.
