composing email font is very small

when composing emails I use a 14 point font because smaller well, looks really small. it was brought to my attention that my outgoing emails have this large font that looks unprofessional on a computer using outlook.

what doesn't work: CHANGING PREFERENCES. that only adjusts what you see; USING COMMAND PLUS - absurd answer. this increases the font size.

is the only answer to compose these msgs in whatever font i use and then resize to 12 point?
