I have a IMac G4 from the early 2000s, as well as a mid 2000s iMac that I’d like to bring to the Apple Store to recycle. I haven’t been able to wipe either of them / restore to factory settings. Does Apple wipe them?
Apple responsible recycles the computer. If you are concerned about the data, simply remove the HD from the computer before taking the computer into the Apple Store. A G4 would not be resold, it would simply be recycled to re-use any elements that can be re-used such as gold. The HD on that era Mac is not compatible with contemporary computers.
