iPhone cell service corrupt?

My son has went through 6 or 7 iPhones in the last year. We can’t figure out what’s going on. Basically after a month or two it says there’s no cell service (there is. And yes phone is up to date). Putting in a new SIM card doesn’t work. Verizon has no idea. Thankfully we have Asurion but I think they are tired of us, can’t blame them. I don’t know if there’s a virus in there and we back up old phone then put virus on new phone? Was wondering if anyone has any idea what could be happening.

Hi Salerno76,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities! Since your son's iPhone is showing no service, follow these steps:

  1. Turn cellular data off and then back on again. Go to Settings, then tap Cellular or Mobile Data.
  2. Restart your iPhone
  3. Check for a carrier settings update: Manually update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad
  4. Reset Network Settings
    • Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
    • This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.

5. Update your software: Update your iPhone or iPad

These steps can resolve issues with cellular service on your iPhone, and can be found in the article If you see No Service, Searching, or SOS on your iPhone or iPad. If you continue to have issues with service, and you've already spoken with your carrier, contact Apple Support for further assistance.

Cheers!
