iPhone 12 Mini has no cell service

My iPhone 12 mini started losing cell service about three weeks ago, and then it lasted longer and longer. At this point, I can't reliably use my phone unless I'm on wifi. I tried all the fixes on the trouble shooting sheet (turning off, removing/reinserting SIM card, checking settings, etc.) and then finally went to AT&T since it seems like a carrier issue. But they said "We keep getting iPhone 12s and 13s in here with bad SIM card readers. That's probably what's happening with yours. You want to buy a 14?" That sucked. So if the AT&T sales people know this, is Apple taking care of it? AGAIN, it seems like a SIM CARD READER problem, not a cell carrier problem. Any advice on some way to be more sure ...or to fix this?

Yea you go to AT&T store talk to a sales rep, who probably doesn't know how to fix the issue or at the very least escalated with their tech people. so they do the next best thing try to sell you a new phone.

Cellular data is a phone carrier feature, not Apples. Our company is with AT&T with iphone 11, 12, 13, and 14 and no issue with cellular data or sim card reader, which is bogus excuse from AT&T.

Thanks. I hear you, but it doesn't seem like there's a solution in there. Try a different AT&T store? Be more forceful, take a different approach to bring them around? ...I literally sit beside my wife (both on AT&T - same plan), she has iPhone X, and I have iPhone 12 mini and she has all the reception in the world and I have none.

Then call AT&T and escalate the issue with their tech.

I did it. I called to see what I could learn. The person on the phone was more helpful than the salesman here in-person. The tech on the phone said since my SIM card is 8 years old, it might not be working with the newer 5G infrastructure. So I should go to the store and have them issue me a new/replacement SIM card and this might fix the issue. ...which one guy had mentioned at the store, but the other guy backtracked and said changing the SIM never helped fix any reception issue. But again, they didn't know (or ask) how old my SIM card was. And they really did seem to want to sell me a new phone. Anyway, I'll give it a try.
