I keep trying to hide alerts from a group message but I still get alerts no matter what I do. I tap hide alerts button and the little bell icon with the line through is showing that it is muted, but I am constantly getting alerts from that group. How do I fix this?

will appear next to the conversation.
Hide Alerts stops notifications for a specific group text message, but not for all the messages on your device. You'll still receive all other messages and notifications. Learn more about managing your notifications."
If the steps you are performing are correct, make sure you have updated to iOS 16.2 to rule out this being related to an outdated version of iOS. Here's how to Update your iPhone or iPad.

Thanks so much for your reply. Unfortunately it does not help. I have completed all the steps, which should be easy to follow but they just do not work. My iPhone XR software is up to date.
The only thing I can think of to tell you is that the first time I did it, it worked, and the alerts to the conversation were muted.
However, I want to check those messages occasionally, so I looked at them. After that I was not ever able to mute the alerts again, even though the little bell has the line through it. I think there is a glitch in the software for this phone. Thank you.
