hide alerts not working on group message

I have that same issue and same phone. It is all up to date and restarted. I wonder what the glitch is!

I have the same issue as well. Red number bubble notification still pops up for a group chat that I swiped left and muted. Muted on my phone as well. It doesn't notify on phone but it still does on the Mac.

Unfortunately the only thing that works for me is to turn off ALL Notifications in system settings on the Mac and keep my phone near by in order to get my work messages without being distracted by personal group chat. Frustrating.

@ TMK618 Nope. I tried muting via the swipe and I still get alerts. So frustrating!

Contact Apple team support didn’t help me at all. No one could help.

It sounds like you are having an issue with the option to hide the message alerts for a group.

Ensure your phone is up to date. This will get your device on the latest iOS version available. Once you have updated, test to see if the issue is still going on. 

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

If the issue is still going on, check out this article to Use Messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to delete the conversation and have a member of the group send a response to the group to see if you get the alert.

I am having the same issue and I did notice that if I swore the text to mute it it turns off hide alert toggle and the same if I turn on the hide alerts then it unmutes the swipe button. They some how got out of sync and it is driving me crazy. If anyone knows how to fix it please let me know

I've been experiencing this same issue for months on my 13 pro max, currently updated to 17.5.1. Have just been resorting to silencing all notifications from iMessage, but then of course missing other important messages. After a phone restart, and re-silencing the group chat it seems to work for a brief time, but eventually all notifications start coming through again. Extremely frustrating this bug has not been resolved yet!

Same here. It was fine UNTIL I updated. Now I’m getting alerted and it still shows “hide alerts.”

Found the solution for my situation.

Or, from your list of messages conversations, you can swipe left over the group text message and tap the Alerts button . 

When I swipe left all I see is the time it was sent.

@ sh1l2 Don’t swipe from the actual text thread. Swipe from the messages list from where you tap on the messages. Then select mute. It’ll be a bell.

I contacted Apple and they couldn’t help. I feel like it’s only in the group chats that contain Android person. It keeps notifying me on my Apple Watch. So annoying!!!
