Is there a way to limit an adult account for my children?

Heya! As a parent I feel my children gets way too limited with their children / below 13 accounts.

It's not only apple who have this, even google have weird polices around children-account.

My though with making children account was in a way to protect them.. but in the end they get an account that limit them way too much.

For example Google wont let me son use his children google-account in YouTube to cast to his own Chromecast on his own TV... the reason? Well his a children and me as a parent cant in anyway make that possible, and I would say that outrageous!

These security-features should be a way for ME as a PARENT to choose what my children can do and not. That's not the job of Apple or Google. So stupid.

And Apple have the same weird polices. I couldn't create an account now in the game Among Us on my sons ipad for my son. And after some googling it was because he also have a children account at apple and if you're below 13 you cant create your own account in game, like here in Among Us.. even though ME as a PARENT says he can. Again, so stupid.

I am the parent, not Apple.

So... is there any good workaround this problem?

I am thinking of creating adult-accounts to my children. But at the same time I don't want them to have 100% free hands in everything.

So is there a way of limit my sons iPad if I use an adult-account on it?

I don't want them to be able to purchase anything from the store or inside apps.

I somehow want to limit what he can see in the app that is available through the screen time protection.

But the questions is can I use all this if I use an adult account?

Hey thanks for the reply. Okk so you're saying I can give them an adult account with the iPad still being limited? Will watch your links later when I get home.

I'm sure all this is because some American Law or something.. I'm sure they wont fix it. A lot of companies do this.

Check one of the most popular online-games "Roblox" that many kids play. If you create an below-13 account to your child there his account will be VERY limited where he cant join his friends to play etc and not chat etc.. so stupid. So even there I had to create an above 13 account to my son since I wanted to play with him.

Instead of making all these "If you're below X (because of some law somewhere) of age you wont be able to do: XXXXX" do an account where you can limit each thing. Like "I dont want my child to be able to chat" - check. "I dont want my son to be able to add friends" check .. etc.. much easier for us parents.

Hello Euforin,

There are a lot of different ways that Apple will allow you to manage the Screen Time and parental controls for your child's device. You can learn more about Screen Time settings here: Use Screen Time on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. That then will walk you through setting up Content & Privacy Restrictions in Screen Time for your child's device. Here's a few more details about what Content & Privacy Restrictions are offered via Screen Time: Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

That being said, you are also able to enable Ask to Buy which does allow you to approve what your kids are buying in the Apple App Store. This page offers information about Ask to Buy, how it works, and how to enable it: Approve what kids buy with Ask to Buy.

If these pages do not offer options that you're looking for specifically, you can send feedback to Apple directly on their Apple Product Feedback page. They are very receptive to feedback and will take your suggestions into account.

We hope this information helps you out.

Best wishes!
