You give no details

Magic Keyboard requires a M1/M2 Silicon Mac and must be a magic keyboard w/ touchID

see the complete compatibility list

—there are non touchID "magic" keyboards.

—If not a M1/M2 the magic keyboard w/ Touch ID will still be a 'functional keyboard' just not the TouchID part.
