JPG images not rendering properly in Preview

I have a number of jpg images stored on a NAS drive. When I try to open them using Preview, I only get a partial rendering. The images are complete and can be opened in any other app, but not Preview. And it's only images stored on NAS - images on the MacBook render fine.

Previously a restart of my Mac solved this problem, but that doesn't seem to work any more.

I have restarted my MacBook, forced close the Preview app, restarted my NAS drive, reloaded the images on my NAS, and nothing works.

Thoughts? Suggestions?
