Touch ID Problem on iMac with Ventura

The Fingerprint Touch ID icons are not present in System Settings. Disconnected and reconnected Keyboard and the fingerprint icons appear. But when attempting to activate a fingerprint, I get message that "Unable to setup Touch ID on your keyboard." I clicked OK, and the Fingerprint Touch ID icons disappear again.

I have already shut down the iMac 24 and have re-installed Ventura 13.1 with no solution.

Any help would be welcome.

FWIW, the low end 24" iMac, 8-core CPU, 7-core GPU does not support Touch ID.

I was not aware the low end iMac supported macOS Ventura...
All three 24" M1 iMacs support Ventura. Only two support Touch ID.

Thanks !

It would seem the Compatibility list is miss leading...or would need clarification..

Is this the OEM keyboard that shipped new with your iMac...?

Yes, this is keyboard that came with the iMac. I do have the 2021 24" iMac with M1 chip. The Fingertip Button was working until recently, maybe when I installed the latest version of Ventura, but not sure exactly when.

Ok — so what is your experience when you try the suggestion in my original post above...

You're welcome.

What I am seeing is it ships with non touchID but is an option—congruent w/ the list..

From your link above. Maybe I am still confused.

I get what you are saying— the OP does not have a touchID keyboard. Has the power button but this does not include the TouchID/within the same button.

makes sense now no matter how hard the OP tries it will never work, unless you step up to the next level keyboard.
