Incoming phone calls aren't reaching Apple Watch SE

Lately after upgrading my iPhone 13 to iOS 16.2, the phone calls I receive on my iPhone have stoped reaching my Apple Watch SE. Same goes with my Mac, which doesn't receive any incoming calls.

On an another pair of Apple devices, my wife's iPhone XR connected with her Apple Watch series 2, and iPad have stopped call share between iPhone and Apple Watch and iPad.

Missed Incoming call notification does appear on the Watch but with all troubleshooting steps, apart from unpair and re-pair of iPhone and Watch, nothing has helped to receive incoming calls on Watch. This function was working as expected probably until 16.2 or 16.1. I am not sure if there are more apple users with similar observations. This is a major miss, if the bug has been introduced.

Hello Thirurags,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We want to help get the calls going to your other devices like you expect.

Make sure you're using the details on this Apple Support page to answer calls: Answer phone calls on Apple Watch - Apple Support

You said that unpairing and pairing the devices again helps to resolve the issue? How long does it stay resolved?

Check for any pending watchOS updates, which can help make sure the software is working as expected. This Apple Support page has the full steps to help get those updates installed: Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support

"Update your Apple Watch using your iPhone

You can wait until Apple Watch notifies you when a new update is available. Tap Update Tonight in the notification, then go to your iPhone to confirm that you want to update overnight. At the end of the day, leave your Apple Watch and iPhone charging overnight so the update can complete.

Or you can update your Apple Watch with your iPhone manually:

  1. On your iPhone, open the Apple Watch app, then tap the My Watch tab.
  2. Tap General > Software Update.
  3. Download the update. If asked for your iPhone passcode or Apple Watch passcode, enter it.
  4. Wait for the progress wheel to appear on your Apple Watch. It could take from several minutes to an hour for the update to complete.

Leave your Apple Watch on its charger while the update completes. Don't restart your iPhone or Apple Watch, and don't quit the Apple Watch app. When the update completes, your Apple Watch restarts on its own."

We hope these steps can help isolate and resolve the issue so you can get calls on your Apple Watch again.

Cheers!

Thank you for your response.

Unpairing and pairing the Apple Watch and iPhone did not resolve the problem. Even after this, the phone calls do not reach my Apple Watch. As I have already mentioned, Apple Watch is running on WatchOS 9.2 and iPhone on iOS 16.2. I started to face this problem after upgrading to the latest software update.

Also, it's just not the Apple Watch where I do not receive the incoming phone calls, same is the case with iPad and Mac. The incoming call continuity across Apple devices is broken.

I need apple engineering troubleshooting support to resolve this broken functionality.

Cheers!
