Mac air M2 freezes

Hi there my recently purchased MacBook Air M2 occasionally freezes for no apparent reason.

I m not running anything heavy on it other than the usual safari, outlook, Spotify , WhatsApp .

i can still move the cursor and hear some audio but everything else is pretty much frozen. Only solution I’ve found is doing a hard reset which is a real pain.

pretty annoyed that this isn’t working smoothly considering the cost of it.

any solutions would be very welcome 🙏 thanks in advance

And any keys to force software to shut even if frozen ? The menu at the top isn’t responding)

Try and boot the MacBook in the safe mode to see if the problem persists

  1. On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > Shut Down.
  2. Wait for your Mac to shut down completely. A Mac is completely shut down when the screen is black and any lights (including in the Touch Bar) are off.
  3. Press and hold the power button on your Mac until “Loading startup options” appears.
  4. Select a volume.
  5. Press and hold the Shift key, then click Continue in Safe Mode.
  6. The computer restarts automatically. When the login window appears, you should see “Safe Boot” in the menu bar.

If the problem is gone in the safe mode it is caused by an external piece of software, make sure that you check which software that you have installed that can cause this
