WIFI slow problem with Mac studio and MacOSVentura 13.1 (22C65)

Apple M1 Max Mac Studio MacOS Ventura Version 13.1 (22C65)

I'm having a wifi problem

I tried these:

  • reset Wifi settings
  • restart Mac
  • turn off and turn on wifi
  • DNS cache clear
  • setting DNS 8888 and 8844
  • setting custom and automatic MTU

When I test Wifi speed I get 260Mbs. That's fine.

Some minutes later I get only 2Mbs. Slow internet Slow network.

When I turn off and turn on Wifi it happens the same way.

I use the same router to connect to the same network with the phone and the tablet, but I don't experience this problem with them

Does anyone have this problem?

Hello mikloshumli,

To help us better assist you, can you let us know if you receive any errors when the issue happens? If so, what does the error say? Do you experience issues with other networks, or just that specific one?

The above details will help us plan how to proceed.

Please also check out this link to help ensure the recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points are being used, so we can make sure there's not an issue there: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

mikloshumli,

Do you utilize any third-party software or VPNs? These can also affect Wi-Fi performance especially since it's fine after first turning it on. Even though your other Apple devices work fine, double check the settings to your router as well which might also affect it, especially if you use per-device settings of any kind: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

Take care.

Judging from your screen shot >>

The computer is in fact using some type of Third Party Security Software

Which is unless, causes issue including what the machine is experiencing now - Intermittent Fast then Slow Internet Speeds

Any Third Party Applications that will interfere with the normal operation of the OS,  is an invitation for disaster and comprise the Operating System

Certain Applications maybe available on the Apple Apps Store - this only means the Developer is prepared to pay Apple a portion on each sale. What the Application may do to the computer is up to the User to check this out before purchase

Any of the below should be removed as per Developers Instructions

This will include CleanMyMac , This will include BitDefender

This will included Norton Antivirus , Sophos Av Software

Intego AntiVirus, McAfee, MacKeeper, Avast AntiVirus

Ad Guard, Webroot , ESET , Avira , Dr Cleaner Pro Plus

I don't use mac studio on another network. The ipad and iphone, on the other hand, use the same Wi-Fi as the mac studio. I didn't experience such a slowdown with them. Unfortunately, there is no error message. if I turn the wifi off and on, it's fast again for a while. I went through the network settings.

You said;

How old are the pad and the phone ? These devices could be causing the Wi-Fi network speed to throttle when connected

Try disconnecting the iPad and iPhone from Wi-Fi and try again

Try connecting a Ethernet port from router directly to Studio (I recommend)

Know what your ISP download and upload speeds are.

If the advertised speed is close to or lower than half the advertised rate for days, that’s the time to call your ISP, but ONLY if you’ve already tried above first. The ISP will ask before continuing, good luck
