iPhone won’t connect to EE, Data or Wifi

Hi, the phone was working perfectly and the next day the phone will not connect to wifi as the toggle is greyed out. It says that the phone requires an update to use wifi but have updated using a laptop and it is still giving the exact same message. The phone is also not reading the SIM card placed into the phone but the sim works in an alternative phone. Thanks
