Well, if you still don't want to use Etrecheck, look in these locations for something to do with Charlie Fenton or the developer...

/Library/Launch Daemons

/Library/LaunchAgents/

~/Library/LaunchAgents/

~ tilde indicates your home folder

Apple hid the Users' Library folders...

Method 1:

1 From the Finder, select the Go menu at top of the screen, and choose Go to Folder.

2 In the window that opens, enter ~/Library, and click Go.

Oh, and System Preferences>Users & Groups>Login Items

Two, actually!

it is not in the app store

That is because Apple wanted me to classify it as an "anti-malware" app, which I refused to do, because it isn't. Such apps are impossible in the Mac App Store and I didn't want to misrepresent my work.

I shall not use it.

But you are using the BOINCManager, written by Charlie Felton, which also isn't in the Mac App Store. If I were to call BOINCManager malware, would you delete it? It would then reach your malware classification threshold. But then what does that say about your malware classification method when you won't delete one app that meets all of the malware criteria because another malware developer called it malware? Who knows what is and what is not malware more than another malware developer?

PS: I actually identified this developer by doing a Google search for: Charlie Fenton etrecheck. One of the top hits was someone who also used BOINCManager and posted their EtreCheck report.

Id'd say it is Malware if you have no idea what or why it is!?

We need to see what all is running, a report from this will not display any personal info...

EtreCheck is a FREE simple little diagnostic tool to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac. It will not display any personal info.

Pastebin is a good place to paste the whole report if you capture the URL while there…

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck. In a Reply before you click post, look for this to add longer texts...

BDAqua, thank you for your try at helping me. However, since EtreCheck has been reported by at least one person to be malware, & it is not in the app store, I shall not use it. Again, thank you for your good work.

Oh, my. A single POS on the internet living in his mom’s basement called it malware. Better run and hide.

Good luck solving your problem. Hint: it’s not a problem. But, one person on the internet called it malware, so you had better do everything in your power to purge the software you installed.
