Has anyone have a broken Apple Watch because of the included Apple band?

Im so annoyed right now so basically 2 months ago my mom offered me a almost brand new Apple Watch and while i was going for a run and the band included with the Apple Watch came off and the screen just shattered
Agreed, definitely not a secure design. I'm fascinated by the level of genius that it takes to create a product only to fail in the most simplistic component of the design. It's as if common sense and intelligence cease to coexist.
And i cannot afford a repair
