Recording issues with MacBook Air M2 (2022) Camera

I'm unable to carry out a recording of myself (in front of the built-in camera) with my MacBook Air M2 (2022) running Monterrey 12.5.1.

When I tried to open Quicktime player and record, I pop-up on the screen but immediately freeze for the duration of the video. The bar at the bottom (indicating size of the recording file, perhaps? show 0 KB.

This also happens with Photo Booth! Weirdly enough, I can view myself moving on the screen and can take a photo of myself, but once I hit record, my movement/recording freezes.

Other applicants such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams are unaffected. Please help!

Hello needhelp1234_5678,

What we'd like to do is test this behavior in an alternate user. Follow the steps outlined at Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support to set up a new Administrator user. Once that's done, log out of your normal user account and into the new. Test the recording behavior there and let us know if it persists. This'll let us narrow down where the problem lies.

Cheers!
