Unable to create a what’s app backup

I moved from an iPhone 12 Pro Max to a 14 pro max. I backed up what’s app before the move.

i transferred data using the phone side by side function.

Since I did the move, last Thursday, I have been unable to manually create a what’s app back up, or use the scheduled one. I can’t use the search function either. That backup is still there.

The what’s app help is pretty useless, they keep closing the chats without any solution.

Thanks, it seems to be an iOS 16 issue. I think 16.2 Loads on Twitter with the same problem, so relieved it’s not only me, but would love to get it sorted. Apple support on Twitter just directed me to what’s app support and things I had tried already. So not much help. No updates to what’s app recently, so hoping next app update will solve the issue. No response from what’s app support apart from the automated/bot replies

Thank you for posting this too! I thought it was just me as well! =)

However, I have friends on iOS 16.2 and can backup WhatsApp.

I tried contacting WhatsApp via email since Christmas. They just told me that it will be escalated to their technical team.

So I think it could be a combination of both - iOS 16.2 and iPhone 14.

Am trying to get in touch with Apple Support again. I spoke to Apple Support in the morning, got a follow up call in the evening and they wanted me to go back to the initial Apple Support, much to my disappointment. I did ask for a replacement set but the technical team was reluctant. It was escalated to second tier of the technical team and the line got disconnected before we could resolve it. =(

Basically I have done everything possible - uninstall and reinstall WhatsApp, reset the network settings, try another Wi-Fi network, soft reset the phone, hard reset the phone and erase all data (twice) & reinstalled WhatsApp separately. All failed. iCloud backup is working but no one could answer me why I can't manually initiate a backup via WhatsApp. One technician told me that she never knew (for the last 3 years) that one could initiate a backup via WhatsApp. I rely heavily on WhatsApp for business. I sure hope WhatsApp or Apple can advise.

I have taken every step you have including putting what’s app back onto my iPhone 12pro max and try to initiate a back up, nothing works. At this point I am reluctant to go factory resetting again as I have all my info and I don’t want to loose everything if the back up that is there won’t reinstall. I can’t use the chat search function either. I am no closer to figuring it out. I am only hoping that as there hasn’t been a what’s app update in a while that it is being worked on and they are aware the problem exists. But I haven’t seen a reply from them on any Twitter feed. If I try starting a new support conversation with them even giving the text chat and email ticket numbers it’s the same bot response, so no help. I haven’t got anything back from Apple support after I said I had tried all the what’s app solutions.
