iPod classic - restoring error 1675

Two months ago, I was perfectly able to listen to my old iPod classic. Yesterday, I got an error and a message that I should go to apple.com/support/ipod Here I am. I connected it to my mac and got this error: An iPod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the iPod, then try again. An unknown error occurred (1675).


Can someone help me with this?

The hard drive has probably failed. See If you see a red X icon on your iPod classic or iPod nano (5th generation or earlier) - Apple Support (archived copy). You might want to consider an SD conversion kit to replace the failed drive.
