Don't know how this happens; but suddenly I notice browser images
are showing to to left of my project in the viewer window. How do I turn this off; so that I just see my project as it is highlighted in the timeline below. I can't seem to find what button causes this to happen. Appreciate some enlightenment, especially in how to turn this off.

I'm not completely clear on what you're describing, but if you mean that you're seeing thumbnails of clips along with your projects, twirl open Smart Collections in the browser and choose Projects. That will display just your projects. If this isn't what you mean, post a screenshot.
Are you seeing two viewers? If so you can switch off the event viewer in the Window menu.
Wasn't able to get a screen shot at the time; (will if it happens again) but it was like a split screen.
