I tried opening the video animation but I couldn't find a 'linear' option.
I know there's got to be better way than what I have now, any tips?

When you have the clip with animation selected in the timeline the motion path will appear with the keyframes. Right click on a keyframe and you can change smooth to linear to remove the default easing.

Just apply it to the clip you want to animate. You can animate your clip in either or both directions [starting from PiP to full screen and back or the animation at either end. Setting the timing is easy — 4 sliders to use as "markers" for start and end times of In and/or Out.]
Wait, are you talking about Motion? I'm trying to do this in FCPX.
Otherwise, I don't know how to access the motion path other than hitting control + V, and there I can't see any linear to smooth settings.
I feel like such a fool Tom. I need to do a little soul searching now to see which paths I took that lead me to this brainfart.
Since I have you, a quick question and I'll get off your lawn (and thank you so much for straightening me out). Is there a way to speed up video slightly without the audio sounding echoey. If you have an answer to that one, it'll at least help me compensate for wasting someone's time.

Yeah, it's there, it's checked. It still has an echoey sound. I can change audio tempo in audacity and I don't get that sort of echoey sound...so I thought I'd ask. Thanks for fixing the other problem for me!
It's a little disappointing that there's not an internal way to do this.
Is this the only option I have? I have apple motion as well, can it be programmed through that app?
Did you set the position keyframes in the Viewer to linear?
No, and I'm afraid I don't know exactly what you mean. Do you have a quick 1 2 3 to do this?

No problem. I've been doing using FCPX for nearly 4 years and I'm throwing a blank to what a "Viewer" is. Yes, this is incredibly difficult to be admitting to.
The pane where the video appears when you play a clip or the project.
In the Retiming menu there’s supposed to be an option to pitch shift when the clip speed is changed. I thought it was on by default. Maybe the channels are not all speed changing together.
