Just got a new imac24 from very old imac. Qu

just got new imac 24 replacing v old imac. storage shows iphotos app takes us 195gb of memory and photos app takes 140 gb. Can I trash old iphoto app which should free up storage space. And should the photos app still be ok. Thanks. Ken W

If you've got a new 24 inch iMac then the iPhoto application won't run on it, so you can definitely trash that. But judging by the sizes you mention you're not referring to the application but to the iPhoto Library.


Have you migrated from the iPhoto library to a new Photos library? If so then the Photos library is quite independent of the iPhoto one, and will be unaffected. Just you won't recover quite as much space as you think, as they both reference the same original files.
