Hello oladapo1926,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you no longer use the phone number that you listed as a trusted phone number. We are happy to help.

If you have another trusted phone number or another trusted device as listed here then you can regain access to your Apple ID immediately: Two-factor authentication for Apple ID - Apple Support

What is a trusted phone number?

To use two-factor authentication, you need at least one trusted phone number on file where you can receive verification codes. If you have a phone number that isn't associated with your trusted device, consider verifying it as an additional trusted phone number. If your iPhone is your only trusted device and it's missing or damaged, you won't be able to receive verification codes required to access your account.

To see, add, or change your trusted phone numbers:

  • On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Go to Settings > your name > Password & Security. Next to Trusted Phone Number, tap Edit.
  • Choose Apple menu  > System Settings (or System Preferences), then click your name (or Apple ID). Click Password & Security, then add or remove a trusted phone number.
  • Go to the Account Security section of appleid.apple.com.

What is a trusted device?

A trusted device is an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple Watch, or Mac that you've already signed in to using two-factor authentication. It's a device that we know is yours and that can be used to verify your identity by displaying a verification code from Apple when you sign in on a different device or browser.

If you don’t have another trusted phone humber or another trusted device, we recommend starting account recovery using the steps here: How to use account recovery when you can’t reset your Apple ID password - Apple Support

After you start account recovery

After you request account recovery, you get an email with a confirmation of your request and the date and time of when you can expect to regain access.

  • If you submitted your account recovery request with iforgot.apple.com through your device's browser, you should avoid using that device during this period. Using that device might cancel account recovery.
  • To avoid delays, turn off other devices that are signed in with your Apple ID until account recovery is complete.

When the wait period is over, Apple sends you a text or automated phone call with instructions to regain access to your account. Follow the instructions to immediately regain access to your Apple ID.

Please note with account recovery, Apple is not able to speed up the process since it is automated.

Check the status of your request

At any time, you can see how long it will be until your account is ready for recovery, or when more information will be available. Just go to iforgot.apple.com and enter your Apple ID.

Cancel your request

  • If you remember your information and can sign in successfully, your wait period cancels automatically and you can use your Apple ID immediately.
  • To cancel a recovery request that you did not make, follow the instructions in your email confirmation.

Let us know if you have further questions.

Take care.
