Our iPad seems to be out of warranty. It was purchased in 2015. I have a serial number but Apple don't seem to want to disclose the model number.

Finding the Serial Number:
Look on the Purchase Transcript (if you still have it).
You can find it here:
Settings > General > About > you should find model name, number and serial number.
Perhaps it is on the back of the iPad.
