iPhone 14 pro max 48 raw dng adobe issue

Hello,

First off I have to compliment Apple for a change as my new iPhone 14 pro max and its 48mp raw mode is far better than I had expected. I regularly shoot canon full frames and this phone will come in very handy indeed. I realize 99% of people don’t need this level but if one is a photographer etc it’s just brilliant.

The big issue I’m having -besides the common focus issues, when importing 48 raw DNG still images to adobe Lightroom or photoshop I can only see a digitally garbled preview image not the actual image. The files open in raw mode and work just fine but not seeing the previews make selecting the right image impossible. I just have to open randomly to see.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Hello Forgotten Rebel,

Thanks for that info. Try the steps here: Using HEIF or HEVC media on Apple devices - Apple Support

"To convert HEIF and HEVC media manually, export it to a different format from an Apple or third-party app. For example:

  • If you open an HEIF image in Photos or Preview on your Mac, you can choose File > Export, then choose a format such as JPEG or PNG before saving.
  • If you open an HEVC video in QuickTime Player on your Mac, you can choose File > Export As, then save to H.264 by making sure the HEVC checkbox isn’t selected."

If you still have issues, then since it's only an issue inside Adobe apps, then please contact the developer for help with the files in their app: How to contact an app developer - Apple Support

Thanks.

Thanks but that just shows iPhone 14 cameras are supported as I know they are. It’s the little preview icons I’m having issue with. I can open any DNG just fine in PS or LR raw.

it’s just hard when I’m importing say 50 raw images and all image icons look the same with a garbled Fitbit’s zit look. Of course all canon raw or any other format from Apple the icons are fine. Just not ones from 14 pro camera.
