Receiving event invites for other users of shared google calendar inside iCal

This was originally authored by somebody else in 2021, I did not see an actual recommendation to correct and I am having the exact same issue:

Working for a small team using google workspace for our emails and shared calendar, each team member needs to view both their own calendar and also the calendars of colleagues to review each others availability. They also have other personal calendars through their iCloud accounts they would like to view in tandem to cross reference.

When setting up the shared google calendar in iCal most of the functionality works fine in being able to see all the calendars and create events etc. However, recently members of the team have been receiving invites on behalf of others (even when they are not invited to the event) and are able to accept or decline for someone else.

Is there anyway around this? As its causing issues with members not realising they are attending an event as they have been accepted on others behalf. We've tried checking the 'ignore alerts' box on the relevant calendars but it seems to have no effect

Is there a setting to change in Google workspace as Admin?

Thanks
