How can I change this?

I changed my Apple ID password because I could not remember it, and for some reason my stepfather got an email notification for it stating the password has been reset and I never received an email stating that? Why is that and how can I change that? I have changed my passwords before and he never got notifications for it so why all of a sudden now?
