Airplay use with Apple TV connection to Iphone via WiFi connection
If you connect an iphone and apple tv via wifi network, does Airplay use internet data if you play video already downloaded to the phone?

Airplay itself is simply a wireless casting protocol (which transmits data locally from your phone to Apple TV by way of your wifi network). Internet would only be used if the content needed to be streamed to your phone first.
The only exception would be if it were a purchase from iTunes, then it would just need to ping the server for authentication (but that requires minimal data)
