why does my home pod mini only play music from my apple library and not stream from apple music?

Try signing out of your Apple ID for music and podcasts on the device, then sign in again. This has worked for others with similar symptoms.
Home app > long press on HomePod > Scroll down to settings > Music & Podcasts > Primary User > Sign Out, then Sign In again.
