Time Machine

Hi Folks,

I want to update my MacOS to the latest. I have done a backup with Time Machine. When I have finished the operating system, will the time machine backup, back up to the new OS without difficulties? My iMac is a 2013 model.

Time Machine from iMac 2017 Big Sur to new iMac Sonoma Hi, so I have a question about the time machine process. I have an iMac 2017 that runs on Big Sur, and I'm looking to buy a new iMac that should be running on Sonoma. If I make a backup on the iMac 2017 will I be able to recover that backup in the new iMac that I'm buying? I'll be using a 2TB SSD for the backup disk. Tysm.

Hello,

Yes, Time Machine will continue to do backups after you upgrade macOS and your previous backups will still be available.
