There are currently no viruses (self-replicating malware) that I know of on Macs. You may want to consult this article:

If you think you may have adware, about the only software I can, in good conscience, recommend is the free version of Malwarebytes:

There's no need to keep it installed on your computer once you're done.

It’s very unlikely you do have a virus on your Mac. If you got such a message: it’s a scam. You can check if there is malware: download and run the free Malwarebytes https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac
