Only one text msg showing in chat at a time

There is only one contact this happens for in my text msgs. Every other contact works fine, and I am able to see our entire chat history.

With this one contact, when they send a msg, the previous msg is no longer visible. So, only one msg is on the screen at a time, always the last sent. His phone shows all of the history. My phone constantly makes the history disappear except for one msg.
