Dolby Atmos not working in Apple TV App-Xbox Series X

I am having the same problem. The menus for shows like For All Mankind and Prehistoric Planet show Atmos, but my Yamaha receiver is only getting a Dolby Digital signal. The receiver display shows Atmos while I'm in the menu, then switches to DD the second the program starts. Atmos worked fine on those shows previously. All other apps like Netflix and Disney still outputting Atmos just fine.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app and that didn't fix it. To make it a bit more odd, a movie I rented via iTunes but watched on the Series X apple app DID play in Atmos. But when I tried both the shows above after that its still only DD.

My setup is a Series X passed through a Yamaha RXV581.

There are other people on here and Reddit reporting the problem.

I met the exact same issue. Atmos worked fine on the Xbox Apple TV app previously, but somehow the App no longer delivers Atmos. Could you please fix it? Also, when I buy/rent the movie, it clearly states they have atmos sound. Seriously, this is a kind of commercial deception!

Have also been experiencing this issue since around May 2022. It happened one day at random (assume there was an app update at the time) and Atmos functionality has not come back. Tried a factory reset of the Xbox Series X, deleting and reinstalling the Apple TV app. Other Xbox streaming apps that support Dolby Atmos function as they should.

Also, no issues through the same Yamaha receiver, playing Dolby Atmos content in the Apple TV app via the Apple 4K TV.

Been hoping an app update would resolve this issue but it has been several months at this point.

I have the same issue. Xbox series X and my AVR Denon X3700H have the last updates. I bought a movie which previously played Dolby Atmos, and now it's not. I have had this problem since the summer of 2022.

Xbox Series S same thing. Definitely the Apple TV app. Atmos works fine from the installed Dolby Test app - delivers Atmos direct to my Arcam AVR31 just fine. I can also use the Apple TV app on my Phillips TV and pass through Atmos to the receiver over eARC no probs. Just deleted and reinstalled the TV app, problem persists.

Guess Apple and MSoft have fallen out again.

I had this problem when Apple TV was updated to the current version. In the previous version Atmos worked fine.

Yeah no kidding! I wanted to watch Top Gun Maverick in Dolby Vision and Atmos with the exclusive AppleTV IMAX ratio! The Atmos track does not work. Ridiculous!

Same issue here. I have the Series X connected thru a Pioneer VSX LX105. Not showing Atmos anymore on all atmos available movies. Netflix works fine.

Yeah, Apple broke the Xbox app sadly.

Hopefully they fix it soon.

I will not buy another film using Apple TV again. Obviously I will not get what I pay for. Vudu offers the same films and Atmos works every time.
