chroma audio issues with Samsung TV, strange problem

I can't figure this out. I have two HDMI inputs into a Samsung Q95T: Apple TV 4K 2022 (16.1), and Verizon FIOS. The HDMI cable linking the apple TV is the Belkin cable I purchased from an Apple store.

When I set the Apple to Chroma to 4:2:2, it works perfectly. If I then switch to watching live TV by changing the input setting on the TV (no changes to the Apple TV) to FIOS, when I return to the Apple TV, there is no audio output.

Through trial and error, I discovered that if I switch back to Chroma 4:2:0 on apple, the audio then works perfectly. if I switch back back and forth the audio will not work on 4:2:2, only on 4:2:0. If I put apple TV to sleep, no help, but resetting it to factory works. If I leave it alone, it works in the morning at 4:2:2

The audio from the Fios is never affected, the bluetooth audio output from apple tv is unaffected. (I have an optical audio output from Samsung to Sonos speaker, which also works perfectly).

I just can't figure out how changing a setting on the TV disables Apple Audio, maybe someone has a similar problem.

Greetings Ggman,

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities.

You completed some great troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue you're experiencing with your Apple TV. We noticed that you completed a factory reset. By chance, do you have a software update available? If so, completing the update may help resolve the issue:

"1. Go to Settings > System > Software Updates and select Update Software.

2. If there's an update, select Download and Install.

3. Wait for your Apple TV to download the update. Keep your Apple TV connected and plugged in to power until the update is complete.

After the update downloads, your Apple TV will restart, prepare the update, then install it. When the update is complete, your Apple TV will automatically restart again."

More details here: Update your Apple TV

If your Apple TV is running the latest software version or if the issue persists after completing the update, we suggest that you reach out to Apple directly. Depending on your location, you may be able to connect with them here: Get Support

Take care!
