Calls going straight to voicemail
For no apparent reason, some of my calls are going straight to voicemail.
iPhone 8 Plus, iOS 16

Welcome to Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you need help with calls going to voicemail. We completely understand why you'd reach out, and are happy to help.
If these calls are coming from non-contacts, you may have Silence Unknown Callers on or Do Not Disturb
Check these:
Settings > Phone > and turn off Silence Unknown Callers.
Settings > Focus and make sure it's off
