HomePod audio scene issue

Having issues with HomePod when setting up a scene. It wont give me an option to select audio, is anyone else having this issue? Apple TV (connected to soundbar) works no problem and allows me to select audio. Currently just have the one HomePod.

Very frustrating

Hi Knockstock,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

We understand that you're not able to select audio for your HomePod while creating a scene. Start by restarting HomePod. This will re-establish the connection to your network. This can be done from iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

1. Open the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac that's signed in with the Apple ID that you used to set up HomePod.
2. Tap or click HomePod.
3. Tap or click the Settings icon , scroll down, then tap or click Restart HomePod.

You can find these steps in If HomePod mini or HomePod isn't responding.

If this continues, disable the automation and enable again.
To enable or disable an automation:

1. Open the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac and go to the Automation tab.
2. Tap or click the automation.
3. Turn Enable This Automation on or off.

Tap or click Turn Off to choose an amount of time to turn off accessories in an automation. For example, if you create an automation that turns on the lights when you arrive home, you can have the lights turn off after an hour.

To delete an automation, tap or click the automation, then scroll to the bottom and tap or click Delete Automation. On your iPhone or iPad, you can also swipe left over the automation and tap Delete.

You can find the steps in Create scenes and automations with the Home app.

Regards.

Knockstock,

Thanks for confirming that both your iPhone and HomePod are up to date.

-Is the date and time correct on your iPhone? To check, go to Settings > General > Date & Time.

-Do you have an active Apple Music subscription?

If yes, then we recommend reaching out to Apple Support directly about the missing the option to Choose Audio for Scenes and Automations. You can do so here: Contact - Official Apple Support

Take care.

Hi Astro,

I have reset the HomePod several times now, the only thing that fixed it was updating my iPhone to 16.1.2

However, after two days it’s back to square one and I can’t select audio again.

I’m not using an automation… I’m using a scene that dims the kids lamps to 3% as a nightlight and I want to also play ambient sleep music on their HomePod…

I have tried deleting the scene and starting again, tried resetting my devices… nothing working. All devices are up to date.

The HomePod mini responds and plays music no problem, it just won’t let me choose songs through scenes.

Extremely frustrating.
