My iPhone 14 ProMax opens the app store just fine. The cellular and wifi connections are fine as well. They are showing connected on the iPadPro and the iPhone. It is not the connection.
My iPad is running iOS 16.1.1
It worked just fine yesterday but not today.

Same exact problem. Also running 16.1.1 on 5th gen iPad Pro. Network is fine. Works on my iPhone 8. Restart doesn’t help. Worked fine yesterday. My symptoms are app starts to launch, briefly shows spinning ball then closes.
Also tried these suggestions from this Apple support page:

A forced-restart of your iPad may help - as the restart will usually clear an isolated software issue:
Force restart iPad (models with Face ID or with Touch ID in the top button)
If your iPad doesn’t have the Home button, do the following:
Force restart iPad (models with the Home button)
Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
Okay, thank you very much. This is the second time I am typing a reply to your response. The forum told me it could not SAVE my reply and to wait. Nothing has happened after 5-10 minutes, so I am retyping a reply. It has been a crazy morning so far!
My 5th gen iPad Pro 12.9" has face id so I did as your first set of instructions indicated. I had done that procedure before to no avail, but I did the routine again. On reboot, the same problem existed.

PS I was kicked off as "timed out" again, my session was rudely terminated, but the typing draft was apparently saved. This is a weird day!
I just noticed a post on Reddit that said it crashes when the iPad is tilted in landscape mode but not portrait. And it’s true, which makes it even more odd. So try portrait mode. It appears to be the Today page that’s causing the crash.
