iCloud

How do I stop documents I save from automatically going into iCloud? When saving to desktop, It shows: "Desktop - iCloud". I'd like to save to desktop only.

If I want to store a document I'd prefer to do this manually, in a backup or not at all. I don't see the need to have my iCloud storage filled with random documents.

saving to desktop without pesky iCloud interference Just got a new laptop with Ventura and just like that my local files are all saving to iCloud as default. And, of course, iCloud is full after hardly any time at all and I need to purchase more storage, which I won't do because I already have other cloud storage and don't want to splinter yet again. HELP!! Is there a way to stop auto saving to iCloud without Apple's ridiculous default that desktop files and docs disappear when the sync option is turned off?

How to be sure i am backing up (syncing) to icloud when I: Sign in to iCloud.com with your Apple ID. Go to iCloud Drive. Double-click the Desktop or Documents folder. I CANNOT FIND THE DESKTOP OR DOCUMENTS FOLDER TO CLICK ON. Help please. I don't know how to add, sync or download my documents to icloud

Sounds like you may have Desktop and Documents turned on. See Add your Desktop and Documents files to iCloud Drive - Apple Support
