My 2 week old ultra watch has charging issues. It’s really hit and miss. I’ve followed all recommended solutions, different chargers, cables etc but it’s a case of sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t. Not good enough for new and expensive watch. Is this a common fault with the Ultra watch?

Most of the time the watch charges up with no problem but roughly 1 day in 5 I find it has not charged overnight. I am careful about placing it and making sure it’s obstruction free.
I think it’s when the battery is very low that it doesn’t charge
It’s in default settings. I have not changed anything.
I've not had any issues at all with charging my Ultra, but I charge mine every night while I sleep. Is there a reason you are letting the battery get so low?
Getting used to Optimized Charge Level (the new system on the Ultra watch) has been an adjustment. I'm not a heavy user during the day, so after a month, your watch will learn from your daily habits and only charge the watch to the level it needs to charge to. No more waking up to a watch charged to 100%, by design.
I charge mine over night too, but it doesn’t always charge, that’s my point really. It only get really low when it has failed to charge overnight - and then getting it to charge from 10% is a nightmare.
But, I’ll leave it another week or so to see if the “optimised” system sorts itself out!

Are you using the charging puck with the braided cable (which came with your watch) and a 20w USB C charging plug?
Charging should not be hit or miss. When you put the watch on the charger, you should hear a charging ping and see the charging circle on your screen immediately.
Can you better describe the charging issues? What does hit and miss mean exactly? Is optimized charge limit turned on?
