CarPlay

So I’m on the road and I’m connected to CarPlay via charger and my phone unlocks instantly without passcode or Touch ID any thoughts?

Greetings bschattaway,

When connected to CarPlay, you can toggle access by going to Settings > CarPlay > [Car] > Allow CarPlay While Locked, on your iPhone.
