My AirPods are not recognized by my iPhone/bluetooth.

right air pod wasn't working.I tried holding the back button and reconnecting. After multiple tries tell Bluetooth to forget this devise, and then reload the pods. I've done this and now my pods are not recognized by my phone/bluetooth.

Hello J417,

Have you had a chance to do the reset as suggested in step #8?

Go ahead and use the steps found at How to reset your AirPods and AirPods Pro - Apple Support to reset the AirPods and then try and pair them again:

You might need to reset your AirPods if they won't charge, or to fix a different issue.

1. Put your AirPods in their charging case, and close the lid.
2. Wait 30 seconds.
3. Open the lid of your charging case.
4. With your AirPods in your ears and connected to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > Bluetooth, or Settings > [your AirPods], and tap the More Info button  next to your AirPods. If you don't see your AirPods in Settings > Bluetooth or in Settings > [your AirPods], just go to the next step.
5. Tap Forget This Device, and tap again to confirm.
6. With the lid open, press and hold the setup button on the back of the case for about 15 seconds, until the status light on the front of the case flashes amber, then white.*

7. Reconnect your AirPods: With your AirPods in their charging case and the lid open, place your AirPods close to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Follow the steps on your device's screen.

Once the AirPods are reset, use the steps found here to pair them again: Pair AirPods (1st, 2nd, or 3rd generation) - Apple Support

Have a good day.

Hey J417,

The steps in the following guide should help to get your AirPods reconnected: If your AirPods won't connect - Apple Support

If you can't connect to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

1. Make sure that your iPhone or iPod touch has the latest version of iOS or that your iPad has the latest version of iPadOS.
2. Put both AirPods in the charging case and make sure that both AirPods are charging.
3. To make sure that Bluetooth is on, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
4. If your AirPods are connected, make sure that they're selected as your audio device. If your AirPods appear in the list of devices but they don't connect, go to the next step.
5. Close the lid, wait 15 seconds, then open the lid. Press and hold the setup button on the back of the charging case for up to 10 seconds. The status light on the front of the charging case should flash white, which means that your AirPods are ready to connect.

6. Hold the charging case, with your AirPods inside and the lid open, next to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
7. Follow the steps on the screen of your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
8. Test your AirPods. If you still can't connect, reset your AirPods.

If the behavior continues, let us know more to help:

  • Are you pairing them with an iPhone and if so, which software version shows in Settings > General > About as menu options can vary?
  • Are you able to pair them with a different device?

Keep us posted.

Take care!

I found this suggestion before. The problem is under #4, which states “if you’re connected” and moves on from there. My pods will not connect anymore. After an issue with the right pod, I was told to go in Bluetooth and click “forget this devise.” That appears to have been a very bad idea, as my phone now won’t recognize my pods at all.
